So, I have small side project (but still seraphon related ). Can you guess what is brewing? Spoiler: Take a look Base frame for Purple sun. I will probably use spare stegadon head instead of skull.
Nice, great idea to make it yourself, room to tailor it to your faction I might save your progress pics for later Grrr, !mrahil
Second Solar bastiladon is in progress. I would say that dino itself is done and now I need to work on solar cannon and crew. Edit: also I love how I chose two main colors for it (runic blue and grim black) which after hour of brushing look on photo like the model is still just preshaded.
Thanks I basically have to thank @Quetzalcoatlus for it. He posted his bastiladon right after I finished mine and inspired me to look at other color schemes (as my fisrt one was "bland" green shell).
I took bits bag to work and tried to dry-fit stegadon head to purple sun frame. It is really tiny compared to that ball. Back to the drawing board.
Love the idea of making your own Endless Spells, that saves a good amount of money that would have been spent having to buy the Malign Sorcery set, especially if you only want one or two of the spells. I look forward to seeing how your attempt turns out!
That saving money aspect was exactly my intention So far I´ve only seen seraphon using purple sun, emeral lifeswarm and cogs (somewhere), so there is no point spending basically "start collecting" amount of money on just three models. I hope I manage to pull it off somehow for purple sun. I am also making emerald lifeswarm out of snakes from knights kit, but only creative work there was cutting base from cardboard, so no pictures are needed until I start painting it. No idea how to make seraphon styled cogs yet.
It might not seem as such of a progress, but I spent hour searching bits box for bastiladon crew as I clipped them off sprue months ago (yes, I was that stupid). One of riders was glued with some different arms, so instead of cutting him up I put spare skink from stegadon chilling on base.
This is what I'm always afraid of doing. I know I'm that stupid so usually do everything at once so there is little chance of misplacing things. I've never been a huge fan of the big monsters but seeing your progress on these is really lighting the fire
I usually clip everything I need and place it in zipbags before gluing, but I used couple of skink crewmen for homemade Ark of Sotek BEFORE doing actual model they are supposed to be on, so I did know that there are spares, but I didn't bother to look which ones are spares. I am huge fan of big models, but I was really hesitant to actually paint them ever since it took me 13 months to finish Arkanaut Frigate for Kharadron Overlords. Most of that time was looking at half painted model on shelf without motivation. So my approach now is to get it done quick before I get distracted by something else. Also, start with bastiladons. I don't know how good they are game wise, but model is without plenty of decorative bull-stuff and it paints incredibly quickly. Also today progress:
Well... I ordered Saurian today It should be 40cm long, so I guess it will be in proper scale. ... ... Also, they had these two in stock and (most important) in scale for carnosaur and troglodon. I guess you can never have too many dinos All three of them cost me about 40 euros and provide hours of fun if kiddo doesn´t confiscate them.
Good find, 40cm make for a great Dread Saurian. And a cheap one as well Have fun and share lots of wip pictures Grrr, !mrahil
Second version of Purple sun frame (in middle) is much better in terms of scale with stegadon head. It will be smaller than official model, but I don't really think it is that important, since it will be really different.
Good to know. I have painted up a Carno before which was very enjoyable, though it was on holiday in a tent, so the atmosphere may have played a part. I started on a Neferata mortarch of blood last year, and man, it's not even fluff there's just so many individual parts on that thing It has left a somewhat sour taste for monsters but I think I'm coming back around on the idea of painting them again. Should probably also finish that
I glued terradons. Sort of... I can't get riders to sit properly. Every time I get feet to position I feel is correct, hand does not reach collar. If I try to start with collar, feet are barely touching terradon back. I am getting desperate here. Was there some kind of discussion that instructions are incorect? Like riders are supposed to be on different terradons, or something of this sort? Because I am getting depressed from them Also, this is most difficult kit from plastic range of seraphons. I am this close to snipping collars and gluing chains around neck after painting.
